DUBLIN CITY
Dublin is the capital of Ireland and is situated on the east
coast. It has a population of 1.5 million and is famous for
its lively friendly atmosphere and vibrant social and cultural
life. It is a city whose centre is concentrated enough to
enable the pedestrian to explore it all.
The diversity of cultural and social provision will provide
for all tastes. The Temple Bar area offers traditional pubs
and music, nightclubs and excellent bistros and restaurants.
There are some excellent art galleries and museums around the
city and a Writer's Museum which reflects the literary history
of Dublin with it's many famous writers such as Oscar Wilde,
Lafcadio Hearn and James Joyce . There is also a vibrant music
scene with traditional Irish music readily available in pubs
and the more modern U2, Boyzone and Sinead O'Connor.
This is a city full of history and life but with a small town
friendliness.

AMERICAN COLLEGE
The American College offers General English Language courses
at all levels all year round. The school is housed in an
elegant Georgian house overlooking the park, Merrion Square
which was the home of Oscar Wilde! It is on the south side of
the river which divides the city and is close to all city
centre amenities.
International students are fully integrated with the rest of
the student body and able to socialise with the Irish and
American students.
Homestay and residential accommodation is available. The
residence is close to the school and is of the highest
standard offering 24 hour security, free internet access, a
keep fit centre and dining facilities.

Situated just south of the main shopping area, Grafton Street
in a typical 5 storey Georgian house in the commercial
district. The school operates with a maximum class size of 12
students and is fairly small and very friendly. In the summer
Junior courses (10-17 years) are offered. Full board homestay
accommodation is offered.

Bluefeather Ireland
Situated in a building dating from 1798 in Monkstown near the
sea and adjacent to the Dart railway which will transport you
to Dublin city centre in 15 minutes.
A range of courses are offered with maximum class sizes of 8
with a minimum stay of one week and starting dates on any
Monday.

DUBLIN SCHOOL OF English
This school is based in a building above one of the famous
'Bewleys' coffee houses in the busy city centre on the edge of
the entertainment nightlife district of Temple Bar just north
of Trinity College. It is the longest established school of
English in Ireland. The courses range from General English to
junior courses, high school placements, au pair placements,
home tuition, work experience and Teacher training courses.
Group sizes are a maximum of 12 and 15 in the summer. Homestay
accommodation is available in the suburbs and residential
junior courses are offered.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTITUTE
Situated on St Stephen' s Green close to the main shopping area
of Grafton Street in a typically elegant Georgian house. Along
with General English, courses for Academic English, Business,
Engineering, Telecommunications, Legal and Secretarial,
Banking and Marketing, Computer and Medical studies are
offered. Residential summer courses are offered at Alexandra
College for juniors (11 to 17 years). Here 125 residential
places are available on a campus offering tennis courts,
sports fields, gymnasium and a self service cafeteria.
Transport to and from the host families is available from the
school.

HORNER SCHOOL OF English
Located in the southern commercial district of the city within
walking distance of the city centre in a typical elegant
Georgian house, this school accommodates up to 150 students in
14 classrooms. Maximum class sizes range from 14 in the adult
summer programme to 10 for the business course. There is a
youth summer programme in Maryfield College 6 km south of the
city centre.

INTERNATIONAL HOUSE
This adult school is located on the south side of Dublin
within walking distance of the city centre. Based in a
Georgian house, the Camden Street centre is recently
renovated. The second centre which is 10 minutes walk from
Camden Street is based in the private Griffith Business
College. This facility offers a bar and restaurant, library
and free internet access. There is a junior summer centre at
Sutton Park School, 12 km from the city centre. All levels
from beginner to advanced are catered for along with Teacher
Training, TOEFL, IELTS and other exam courses.

LINGUAVIVA CENTRE
Just south of St Stephen' s Green, this school is within
walking distance of all amenities and housed in a typical
Georgian house. The maximum class size is 12 students and
homestay families are located in the suburbs. A full range of
courses are offered including the Cambridge exams, TOEFL and
TOEIC.

DUBLIN CITY UNIVERSITY
Located on the university campus 4 km from the city centre
courses are offered to students from 18 years old. The maximum
class size is 12 and residential and homestay accommodation
are available. Students have access to all the university
facilities. Courses range from general English to exam
preparation English for Special Purposes, Business and Teacher
development.

APPLIED LANGUAGE CENTRE, UNIVERSITY COLLEGE
Located in the modern Daedalus Buildings on the University
campus 4km south of the city centre. Students have access to
all the facilities in this the largest university in Ireland
providing for up to 20,000 students of whom 2000 are
international students. A range of courses are offered at the
Centre from general English to Teacher Training.

CENTRE OF English STUDIES
In the city centre on a busy road overlooking the
entertainment area of Temple Bar, the Centre of English
Studies has 18 bright classrooms and free internet facilities.
The Centre offers a range of courses. The host family
accommodation is about 30 to 40 minutes by public transport
and residential accommodation is available in the summer
season.
